Great looking Burst. The owner went the extra mile to avoid any future mishaps as far as the serial number is concerned. No other original Gibson bears that number, that's the way to do it, IMO.:applause:
Too bad to see it for sale again so soon., sigh.

This has to be one, if not, the worst demo video of a vintage Les Paul ever....

Yes I agree the video is not great with the fast licks and the amp.
It's hard to get an idea on the guitar.
Kim who made the refin told me it is a nice guitar.

It looks like a really nice burst, this is the one with a long thread on the restoration, right? That wasn't too long ago. It's odd how quickly some of these guitars move on, maybe he's found something different that he wants more.

Does it look like some moisture has worked its way under the finish, through the checking?

Yes but that's quite normal for lots of old guitars with real checking.

As far as I remember the owner said he was never sure if he would be able to keep it despite the huge undertaking of buying it getting it refinished and shipping it over here. I wish I could be all over this one:( ...I wonder if I could pay it off over 10 years? :naughty:

I've never seen it happen spontaneously on any of the vintage Gibsons that I own. Here is one of mine with heavy checking on the neck.

The only similar experience I can think of is the first 1940's Gibson that I bought. I was cleaning the fingerboard gunk and I stupidly slopped on some of that Dunlop liquid fingerboard cleaner with a rag... I put on way too much and the excess ran all down behind the finish in all the checks and crevices. My luthier was able to get rid of the moisture, I think he used alcohol or something.

Maybe it's sweat? He's playing without a shirt in the Australian springtime. That would subject the guitar to a lot of moisture that could penetrate the finish.

As the others have said, it happens and I've seen it several times.

    IMHO...........$70 Large...........tops.

Personally if I had the $$$$ now I'd rather buy PRS's '58 GT (if it could be had for $70 Large of course). :)

Who cares about what he's playing, why the **** would you post a demo of a 1960 Burst on youtube while you're in your birthday suiti?!?!

Not something I like to see when checking out a vintage guitar...

If I had a burst I'd probably sit around in my undies playing it too. I mean, at that point there's nothing more to achieve in life :laugh2:
