edwards 130 is an insane guitar.it falls somewhere between gibson USA and gibson CS in terms of quality. a tokai ls150 is somewhere in that area too. from what i understand bacchus is great too. if you see the videos they have on yotuube you can see them building their guitars by hand.

with 1500 it would be hard to be disappointed by a MIJ les paul. i bought my edwards 98 for 650 and it smokes every gibson usa i ever played

Wow...that was fast. I figured the others would be gone first! I'd give up my Custom hunt for a great price on one of those....they will show up at a lower price eventually.

another option is a used edwards navigator. that might be the best way to maximize your money.

personally i wouldn't be satisfied with a Gibson USA if i knew i could of gotten a navigator for a similar price.

besides, there's a reason why he's here asking for a MIJ les paul. Gibson's QC is inconsistent enough to stay away from buying guitars without first playing them. with a MIJ (i can speak for edwards personally) that's not an issue.

Did I mention that the ones I saw last summer were utter pieces of crap?
:) (said it with a smile, I'm easy to get along with, see?)

The ones a month ago were over $4grand.

You get more for your money with MIJ. Wayyy more.
