Gonna have to give it another listen, but just off the top...the 73 sucked ass...the 68 and 69 were very nice. The early goldtops were amazing, as were most of the 50's lesters. The 3 pickup lester did not float my boat, even though it was a *vintage* guitar.

I can't help but wonder if you wouldn't get similar variations just playing 2 dozen from the same year. Obviously there are some actual pickup difference from year to year. But much of the difference I hear falls in the range of what I might expect just adjusting pickup height.

It's certainly still cool to see all these guitars covering a range of years, but I question how much the year itself contributes to the difference.

Loved the '68. The 50s with the P90s were nice too, but just didn't have that full bottom that we all associate with Lesters. The 68 had that bottom, but the top was a little more sparkly than the rest of the 'buckers

to me the 52 and the 60 are the best. the 55, 58 and 59 are very good. i dont liked the 68 and 69 that much, maybe because they have too loud and not touch sensitive pups. the 73 was the worst of all.

I like Johan. His accent sounds just like those of my friends from Denmark (I know, he's not Danish).

I'd like them all and 15 sets of EMGs and a Bogner Uberschall...

The '73 needs to have the pups raised. Most all of them sounded pretty good.

The '58, '59 and '69 Custom sounded the best, with the '58 being my favorite. That '73 sounds like a total turd to me. The '74 through '08 all sounded very similar

Agreed on '58 and '53 and consistency across the "newer" ones.

58 is the winner for me buy a lot. 53 was awesome too. 55 custom sounded like a dog to me. Agreed 73 was the worst. Post 73 not a ton of difference.

Awesome video. It just confirms what I've always suspected... there isn't a whole lot of difference in the sound of modern vs. vintage Les Pauls. The '73 was the only expection - pretty big difference with that one.
