IMG_8401.JPG IMG_8398.PNG IMG_8399.PNG hi I have been asked to build a Vox teardrop style guitar.

Does anyone have plans fornauck a guitar?

At this stage he wants it to be a 12 string so I am planning on using some more of the silky oak that my cousin gave me

As far as neck materials I will more than likely use some karri with a two way truss rod and some carbon fibre.

This build will by first with a bandsaw I have bought off gum tree. It's a 10 incher and it was pretty cheap and comes with a couple spare blades. It should do since I use a lot of soft wood.

My uncle will picking it up for me since I have a girls car( a little hatchback) and it's over a 2 hour drive, and they are coming up in a couple of weeks anyway.

So rather than waste space I will have this as the build thread as well.

So does Murkar have plans? Or anyone else, or could someone make some plans for me please even if it's just from this front in picture, I just need a rough body shape for it.
Apparently the scale length is 24 inches but if it could be altered to 25.5 that would be great

    Cheers and hopefully your welcome

Hey, brother, found this over on the Tele site. Not sure how accurate it is, he actually says some things don’t jive, but might be worth a look.

Printable guitar template PDF? Post #444

No neck wood yet, waiting until next week I think. I ordered the hardware so it'll be next month before I can get going anyway.

My bandsaw should be here next weekend too

IMG_8435.JPG IMG_8436.JPG So here is the large guitar pick/plectrum, I'm going to flood the live edge portion with superglue to firm it up and I am tempted to put a large round over on it.

So the specs so far is

    Silky oak body
    25.5 inch scale
    22 frets blackbutt fretboard
    Dot inlays
5 piece 12 string neck made from karri/merbau/karri/metbau/karri(I will use merbau for the skinnier laminations and the fretboard)
    Tom style bridge
    Trapeze tailpiece
    Filtertron style pickups
    3 way toggle 1 vol 1 tone
    Rear routed cavity for electronics

Father in law gave me his thicknesser for my birthday that is less then 3 hours away, I might have to have the bodies cut in half then thickness them then glue them together but hey I’m so stoked.

I will take a picture of the new setup on the weekend.

Just want a drill press And I should be right for a while

Got these bad boys, I bought the band saw about 2 weeks ago and my uncle and aunty brought it up this weekend, it’s a little 10 inch saw but it should do to start off. On Wednesday my father in law gave me his old thicknesser, it’s only a 12 inch cut in it but it will do also

I bolted down the thicknesser and the belt sander and put the cabinet on lockable castors so I can move it whenever I want

And finally I ended up gluing up the neck for this build, I’ll put carbon fibre in it 691A5160-EF11-4EBA-9CAF-B9D049FC1130.jpeg 65637FA0-0635-4B24-967B-A724B49CB39E.jpeg D925B891-527F-4F61-894F-9AE96F0748BD.jpeg
