Chainsaw case? No obvious signs of being a fake?

I’d be inclined to say this is one of “those deals” that you always bitch about someone else getting.

Looks like a, I don't know, 1976 custom to me? I'm far from an expert though..

There are a lot of the usual telltale signs that give away the fakes and I’m just not seeing them here. The board is ebony, proper bridge posts, TRC, proper pickup rings, nibs, diamond, etc.
The patina looks good for the age I assume it is based on the chainsaw case. Binding looks naturally aged.

The guitar in the pictures is 100% real. This all sounds too good to be true... but who knows.

What's up with yellowed binding in some spots and white others?

My guess is white next to the fretboard because no lacquer there. Yellow everywhere else.

The binding remains white it's the clearcoat that yellows, fretboard has worn off the clearcoat, and/or where it chips.

No, the cutaway is not in the late 70's style, which is ever so slightly shallower curved than on traditional LP shapes - or the horn is sharper than the traditional, you decide whether it is the curve or the horn.

Also, the "diamonds" tips do not reach the truss rod cover on mine.

Looks like a Gibson to me as well, but not a Gibson from the late 70's :)

...also, if it is a real Gibson, at that price either you are ripping someone off, or, more likely, its provenance is dubious, to say the least...

    This is my '79 LPC

    How is this still listed?

Go get it. Easily flip it. Easily.

If you go missing, making the CL deal.... we have a suspect:

The diamonds points touch on my '78 and my '77 has that same cutaway.

Edit: Just saw the pics - you have the shallow cutaways as well - unlike the one in the OP /Edit end
Fair enough - i always thought that the shallow cutaway was phased in before 77 at least, but given Gibsons history nobody probably knows.

Is yours Nashville or Kalamazoo made? (Mine is Nashville)

Both are Nashville I assume as the last three digits on the '77 are 5xx and the '78 is 6xx both are awesome players the '78 I had for 37 years the '77 I recently acquired

Why has nobody bought this yet??? If this was in the UK, I'd set up camp outside the seller's house for the night and instantly flip it.

I think this is one of those unicorns where the seller is desperate for a sale to pay their bills, and they have no idea what the guitar is actually worth.
