    Hey guys.

So I have this dilemma. As some of you know, I`ve had my `13 R8 lemonburst out for sale/trade. Last week I got an interesting offer; a guy who maybe wanted to trade his `05 R9 for my R8 + some cash. The thing is that I won`t be able to try out the R9.

The R9 is really, really great looking, it`s almost like an allman burst. Tobacco/bourbon burst with killer flames.

So, would a `05 R9 have a smaller neck than my `13 R8? I prefer a neck thats a bit smaller, so I`m at least hoping for that.

    Any other opinions here?

    Thanks

I think I'd be asking him for some cash, vs the other way round.

Agree , i'd want cash also . To trade for that R9 . Your guitar is newer and has many upgraded specs compaired to his R9 . A pic of the R9 would help as tops do go a long way for value .
Imo , it's a trade down for you. think about that .

Unless the R9 is really plain or the R8 is really figured the R9 value is typically higher. Both are now used and the biggest initial drop in price is immediate.
Consition will also be a factor assuming your's is "like new"and the 05 has some visibly wear.

I wouldn't. The '05 should have more shoulders and feel fuller/fatter. Keep in mind this is a generic statement and that each guitar is a bit different.

It's so difficult to do a trade like that. I mean, you sell the R9 if you don't like. That's always an option. Good luck!

Don't do it if you can't try out the R9.

Thanks. I would`ve done a straight trade, but he`s asking to much cash in addition to my R8. And I think you may be correct Tim, he also said that`s a full neck. I prefer a bit smaller neck, so I think I`ll pass. If he doesn`t lower the cash amount.
