I just ate some crispy Brussel sprouts with spicy honey drizzle. I squished 'em onto my burger and it was delightful. I went to TJ Chumps.

Add some diced onions to that and you're pretty damn close to a Skyline Chili "4 way".

That chili should have a decent amount of brown onion in it anyway.

Dad was over five mess halls at one time before that biz in Europe broke out many decades back...

Some of y'all KNOW what I had quite often much later when I was growing up. Loved when he cooked that stuff... Fill you up and warm you up...

I got little good to say about military food except that when you needed gas you had it. It was big on energy, but you'd better work or else you'll get yourself a chief's belly.

I've been told that I eat some strange things __ but I don't think so . I just don't eat meat ( I do eat fish ) , so I have to get creative with my meals

Zucchini noodles and squid , I learned from a chef friend of mine

Y'all really like your daggum peanut butter. I can't have it. I'm allergic. Just the smell of it makes me sick. If my wife eats peanut butter, she brushes her teeth afterwards. She must really love me. :laugh2:

Dill pickles. They have to taste great. I like the ones that make your whole mouth pucker up. Snappy, not too soft inside. (No perv comments plz). Finding a great dill pickle can be like wine tasting.

Also? Ya wanna know what else I like? A deli-style sausage, egg an cheese sandwich with ketchup, and sometimes even cooked onions.

I'm of the opinion that lesser amounts of the richer foods contributes to health and longevity. Buy I'm still testing that.

95% of the stuff I eat is just random stuff thrown together. I recall only one time recently where I had to throw a whole meal away because it was a disastrous result. usually I can eat it all even if its gross. not that time. I don't remember what it was though I just remember my stomach hurt after a few bites.

Anyone here vouch for Army rations or MRE’s? I had also heard they are calorically dense but the taste and texture left something to be desired. There must of been ways guys made them more palatable.

My dad would put a ton of Tabasco sauce on them. That was pretty common. Some SOF guys have been known to hold onto the Tabasco sauce packets that come with MRE's and put a little dab of it on the outside corner of their non-dominant eye to keep them awake.

Way back in my college days, I would eat crackers with mayo, ketchup, or hot sauce....whatever I had....which wasn't much... When you're hungry, you'll eat about anything...

A buddy of mine introduced me to Snickers & beer one morning after putting his bass boat in the water. We were just pulling away from the dock when he tossed me a Snickers and a Miller Lite. It was a few minutes before 7 am. I thought he was out of his mind. Turns out, I was out of my mind for doubting him. One of the great breakfasts of our time.

Granted, the setting may have had something to do with it.
