I had never even heard of it before and someone I knew made a radish sandwich on buttered bread. It was actually quite good. As a kid, it was common to have a baloney sandwich with ketchup. A coworker told me her dad used to eat onion sandwiches on buttered bread. That one seemed strange to me. How about you guys? Do you have some odd childhood eats you still enjoy today?

Well I have an allergy and when I traveled to Europe they gave me buttered crackers and cucumber "sandwich" as lunch

It's not what you asked but seems appropriate lol

Man, I love me a peanut butter and kosher dill pickle sandwich! Sometimes, if I'm feeling really adventurous, I'll make it on toasted buttered bread.

Pickels also make the very best chaser for vodka shots.

Believe me, both of these sounded absolutely disgusting to me. ....until I tried them! Now, I'm a huge fan.

I think it is very subjective.. what is odd to me maybe regular to others...

For me the idea of cooking a duck in orange juice was a very odd idea.. however it tastes so good

I put crisps (potato chips for all you americans), must be cheese and onion, on all kinds of sandwiches. I do get some funny looks. :laugh2:

Two eggs, over-easy, on peanut butter toast...sometimes I'll add fried jalapeños.

BBQ sauce is also good on scrambled eggs.

Also, fried scallops thrown into a container of Cool Whip while they're still hot and mixed until the CW liquefies is pretty awesome.

I am currently addicted to the local Turkish fast food chicken platter.Fresh, well done barbecued halal chicken quarter with brown rice and lentils, pickled cabbage and turnips, grilled eggplant, roasted potatoes, fresh onions, lettuce and tomato with carrots and chickpeas, topped with garlic and hummus sauce, plus hot sauce. There is a handfull of green leafy plant i don't even know the name of, but could be parsley.Spices are many, including rosemary.Did i say garlic?

Is it a weird combination? Not for everyone, but this cook makes a cheap culinary feast. It is addicting, and healthy at the same time. I've been going there a couple years now.the shop is well run... 2 + lbs of chicken platter, for the amazing price of 7$ US.
It is a full days meal....to never gain weight on.

chick-fil-a fries with their sea salt and raw cane sugar, dipped in BBQ sauce. The sugar and salt make a nice contrast and give it a bit of a crunchy texture.

Scrambled eggs with chili over the top of'em.

I've liked cottage cheese and corn together since I were a kid.

Cheddar Cheese and Chocolate. At the same time.

Both dairy so I guess that's hardly a surprise.

I put milk on my ice cream. It makes perfect sense to me... my uncle taught me to do it and I've done it since I was a kid.

I also sometimes put ketchup on mac-n-cheese. Yeah, yeah... I know...
