Why didn't anybody pick this one up yet?
Just wondering, I have nothing to do with it.
This one has been on Ebay for weeks now: Gibson SG 1974 Vintage Original Standard Custom Guitar - eBay (item 230231833079 end time Apr-11-08 19:37:26 PDT) Looks pretty decent for the price to me. |

Re: Why didn't anybody pick this one up yet?
You know a lot of people get wrapped up with headstock repairs but you know that one of the most famous 59 Bursts, Bernice... Gary Rossington's #1 ax had the headstock broken in the studio and it was repaired overnight and used the next day and went on touring after the accident. It's got two frikkin screws in it!
A properly done headstock repair other than cosmetic is really not a big deal. Sure it reduces the value but when done right it has no effect on tone, playability, etc. I've got a 69 SG Std. that has a small headstock crack that was professionally repaired over 20 years ago and I can tell you that you can't tell it when playing it and you really have to look at the back of the headstock/neck joint at just the right angle to see the line. If you tilt it a certain way you can't even see the repair. |
