Complete adjust on '61 SG Les Paul.
Had fun with my '61 SG yesterday. Put on new replica tuners from RS Guitarworks. Ordered the "aged" ones, but they were way too "aged" on the metal to match the rest of the metal, so a bit of cleaning and polishing was in order. The tuners went on easily and work great. (Kept the old ones, of course.) Then I put on a replica bridge from RS that just slipped right on. The old one had so many poorly cut groves in the saddles that it didn't word right. (Kept it though.) Then, there was the matter of the side-pull trem string retainers not lining up with the centers of the bridge saddles. Found a way to adjust that with the nuts on the rods down by the bout. Cut new centered string groves, oiled the fretboard, re-strung with DR Pure Blues 9s, and hooked it up and played. It sounded just like it had in '61, and the look is pure stock. I was going to sell it when (and if) the market for vintage guitars improves. Now, I may not.
