1969 SG Help me out

Ok so I fell in love with a '69 SG locally here.
It's a natural finish, has a Maestro trem.

New tuners, pots and pickups.

They only want $2500...
Fishy or about right?

Sounds fair to me. Take a few cell phone pix.

Re: 1969 SG Help me out

He's about an hour away.
I really don't have the money.
Its raise able but I'd rather be 100% serious.

But man this guitar is calling to me!
I gotta have it.

I'll have to take my veteran uncle with me if I do go.

Re: 1969 SG Help me out

'69 will take a drop in value as compared to previous years as Norlin took over in early '69... (still a great guitar, I'm sure).

Yeah its a 1 piece body and neck. So no complaints there...

He said no made in USA stamp...

Did Norlin quit doing that?

Re: 1969 SG Help me out

A '69 SG Standard should look like this. No "Made in USA", nylon bridge saddles and no volute. Bear in mind that a lot of '69 guitars (and 70's for that matter) were made BEFORE Norlin bought the company. In addition Norlins changes to business practices and construction did not really manifest itself until the early 70's.

It belongs to a friend of mine. I don't think he even remembers having it anymore.

Re: 1969 SG Help me out

Hi I bought a 1969 gibson SG, unfinished, with no pickups, no hardware, only tuners and pickguard.
I refinished it, winded 2 HB and I wanted to sell it but ...
I can't sell it cause it sounds so good ... It's a very light guitar, 1 piece body, 3 pieces neck, no neck volute, no "made in USA" stamped ... (Norlin transitional era)
Compared to other guitars, the acoustic sound is very loud, a little aggressive but not harsh and dirty.

So I'd rather sell my 1985 Gibson Les Paul instead
