Re: Guitar Player you most Identify with the SG
Zappa, Clapton, Derek Trucks, Townshend(and the Abbie Hoffman incident at Woodstock
![]() )Iommi and Young are probably the strongest though

Angus.
Especially in the last 15 years. Derek Trucks can play, but outside the players circle and die hard fans nobody has a clue who he is. Even kids today see a picture of Angus and they know his name, and Back In Black came out almost 30 years ago.

Indeed that is unfortunately true, but he is still among the few that pop up in my head. You're spot on, Angus definitely takes the cake on this one.

Re: Guitar Player you most Identify with the SG
I was never a Santana fan either. Talent? Sure.
His chops never really made me weak in the knees or made the fur on my arms stand up, and I never cared for the Latin flavored early stuff. Too hippie for me. Personal taste, that's all. But Bobbo, fling sh!t like that in a forum, and drag Jimi into it as well? Say you hate them BOTH??? ![]() Ladies and Gentlemen!!! What balls he has..... ![]()

).C'mon, Jimi cannot be compared to ANYONE else. What he did for the electric guitar and rock music history cannot be disputed! ![]() Jimi played a SG Custom for some stuff. He would have ended up using his '50's Les Paul Custom Black Beauty a lot more too, had it not been stolen. Imagine, just for a moment, if it didn't get stolen - he'd have probably made the Custom as desireable as the Standard... what do you reckon? |

Re: Guitar Player you most Identify with the SG
Dude, I was never a Santana listener either. I listened to Hendrix alot in high school and in my twenty's. He was a monster, fer sure, but he's definitely not my favorite riffster. Amazingly talented though in my opinion. I think that is indisputable. I knew Jimi's dad, and he was a very nice man. He was amazed at how famous his son had become. Very humble man...m
