He is so freaking stoned out of his mind too - funny stuff - its cool though because he really shows you how to get the tone, and really has it in that clip.

That is a cool clip. You can see it on the Live Fresh Cream DVD. And just for the hell of it, a pic of my Fool SG replica....

MMM yummy guitar!!!

That clip was awesome, he was such a Rockstar back then
and totaly relaxed teacher BACK IN 68! man
hes the man.
I still miss that he changed music styles after Cream.
Leslie West did a great job, and love him but still wasnt The Clap!

I believe the cigarette was a option. Gibson discontinued it in 71.

I have never been a huge Clapton fan, nor a big fan of the SG. However, that YT clip has converted me to both. Electronic jangling noise machine, priceless!

It brings to mind a quote I heard about a lot of Clapton's work:
"There he plays, all fey and lifeless"

I found this in the comments section:
"Just read Claptons autobiography - he was utterly wasted on heroin at the time - and quite embarrassed about this performance."

Sounds like the truth there, eh?
He can be so good, AND so bad.......

Luckily George is at an all time greatest in this live cut. On George's Japan tour it is almost the opposite, George is kinda in the background or seemingly uncomfortable while Eric is a lot more out front.
Eric really does the song justice on the Concert For George, but alsa, no George.......
