If you like P90's which I do, have a look at this thread which was swamped into oblivion by an other poster in the Tonefreaks section :

http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/tone...d-pickups.html

I mention this only because Pete Tate wanted people to see them and I made 'em etc...

Re: OK all of you Les Paul SG People Bringum on !:0)

Hi Folks,
This is my first post. I don't currently own a traditional style LP...(looking for a nice Burst re-issue), but I've had this '61 LP (SG) Custom since '73. It's in pretty nice shape has all 3 origional PAF's,pots, caps, and the wonky Vibrola tailpiece. The headstock has a pretty noticeable crack in the back.
Nevermind, it won't let me upload my pics, lol:

My 65 SG Jr also has that problem. Probably caused by pulling the cord out to fast to many times and there being thin wood around the jack. I need to fix this but just haven't done so yet... Gibsonblues...

I can't figure out why they called that a 61/62 SG/LP Reissue when it has a Lyre style vibrola on it? Those came out in late 63/early 64 and weren't on any factory 61/62 I've seen.

Did you buy that vibrola and install it, or was that factory installed by Gibson?

Re: OK all of you Les Paul SG People Bringum on !:0)

You're spot on, Southbay. I purchased this used a few months ago from Buffalo Bros Guitars and they listed it as a Custom Shop Historic 62 RI, but I contacted Gibson with the serial # and was informed that this example is technically a "60s" RI that the CS started producing in 99/2000. Everything is stock, including the lyre vibrola. I'm toying with switching out the 57s but I rather like the way everything is...but then again, I'm also on a tight budget at the moment.

Here's my '67 SG Special, which I acquired in 1977 for the princely sum of $450. It's currently got the vibrato removed, but it's all in the case.

I used to have a faded sg and i was at a gig and my strap became loose it fell it was allright but felt weird. next day im playing at a bar i set it on a stand and then a guy knocks it over and it falls about 4 feet off stage and the body splits off one of the sides

Here's my old warhorse, not as pretty as what's been posted but a real tone monster:

Left - 1961 SG Special, modded w/ Baddass Bridge, DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge position, original P90 in the neck, my own version of a BFG, only created in the mid 80's.
Right - 2007 G0 Les Paul VOS Lemon Burst

That is a Dimarzio X2N, not a super distortion

Your absolutely right. After 20 years the brain cells misfire once in a while, good catch.
