Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

I have been trying to sell my 1971 Gibson SG for a couple of months.
Is it please possible to tell me the approximate value you guys think my guitar is worth?
I see those listed for around 5000$ on eBay, but they don't seem to sell.

It's 100% original (except for a brass nut).
I just paid over 150$ to have the guitar professionally adjusted: fret leveling, intonation, pickups, bridge, neck, ...
Everything is in top shape. This is one of the sweetest sounding SG I have played.
I have a generation 2 Gibson Protector ''Chainsaw'' case I am including with it.

Your help would be really appreciated.

Plus, don't forget I'm including a Generation 2 Protector in great condition.
Those are worth at least 150$...

Please, tell me my guitar is worth something at least.

Re: Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

2500$ seems okay with me.
I just set my price at 2500$ in my Kijiji.ca ad.

Anymore info would be really appreciated from anybody.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

I would agree with 2500, maybe a bit more. A '69 in worse shape went for $2500 recently

Re: Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

Okay. That's not that bad.
I really hate to be in this situation, but 2500$ is not as bad as having to sell my 1962 SG Jr for 2300$...
Thanks guys.

Where do you think the best place for selling those guitars would be?

Uh... here? I've sold quite a few vintage guitars on the forums (old Mustang, Jaguar, ES335 - all 60s)

Re: Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

Okay, I was reluctant to sell here, mostly because I'm from Canada and don't have a huge history (I signed up only 2 months ago).
Anyways, I'm an honest guy and people have always been really kind and helpful on the forum.

Thanks

Re: Gibson SG Standard 1971 Value

Paypal protects transactions made through these classifieds (or anywhere) - provided that you don't pay as a "gift" and so long as you ship to a verified address. Shipping insurance is also a good idea.

I sold one of my Jaguars to a guy in Australia over at the Offset Gutiars forum - I only have a hundred or so posts over there. Good photographs, perhaps a phone call, use of paypal, etc., help keep these transactions relatively safe. People get burned every now and again, but not often. Protect yourself and the buyer with Paypal and you should be in good shape.

Best of luck w/ the sale. I have a 1972 SG that I love to death. If I had the scratch, I'd be all over this one.
