Gigging my 1965 SG Jr.
Hey guys, first time poster here. Just thought Id share this video of me playing my 1965 SG Jr at a blues jam at a local bar. Im using a silvertone 1482 combo with one 12" speaker with only a tiny bit of reverb from a pedal, Im a very straight forward guy. Let me know what ya think! Im the little 15 year old behind the giant dude with the tele. Stick around for my solo, I think its alright.
Thanks! |

Real nice lead work and feel..... need to cut through the mix more. That tele's tone was killing you, but I thought you were the better player.

You won me over with the coiled cord even before I heard you play.
![]() Great, tasteful playing. If I was that good at 15 I probably would never have joined the Air Force--I'd have been touring after High School. Keep at it...you're a great player. BB

Just keep doin' what you're doin.'
You'll be out from behind that Tele player in no time. P.S. That's a proper guitar. I don't own anything with multiple pickups |

Thanks guys, Im really glad to see you all accept this young-en here. I usually play with these guys without the other guitar player and he showed up this time so I showed respect to my elders and let him take the spotlight.

Cool old gear, hell of a player, and he's well-mannered.
He's destroying my preconcieved notions of today's youth. How do you feel about Metalcore? |

Re: Gigging my 1965 SG Jr.
not a fan of metalcore, or as us newport kids know it as hardcore....there are tons of groups that do their hardcore thing and i respect them for their interest in music but i dont think i could stand listening to it for more than 5 minutes. Im more of a late 60's early 70's blues rock guy. I also like many other tasteful genres of music but late 60's/70's rock blues is my thing. You know zepp, cream, the who, james gang, free, mountain, the yardbirds, slade, the animals etc. all those blues and psychedelic bands.

There's hope for the future then. Welcome to MLP.
I went to school in Portsmouth for a bit. My aunt taught at Salve Regina. Newport is one of my wife's favorite places to visit when we're back east. |

Re: Gigging my 1965 SG Jr.
Great playing!! I liked your solo more than the tele players hands down. It was way more soulful and if I had those chops at 15, I would be looking at doing this for a living. You clearly love the guitar -keep on doing what you are doing.

Much respect here. Awesome playing and don't ever get rid of that SG.
As with B2, you had me at coily cord!!

Re: Gigging my 1965 SG Jr.
Heres a little demo of the setup I was using that I made recently. You can hear it better in this video. Its just using the camera mic but the tone is super close to what it sounds like in person.
