Question does anyone have pictures of a mint 50s burst?

what color would a les paul have looked like brand new in 1958 or 1959?

There's a thread here about a mint '58 that keeps showing up on eBay, hang tags and all.

I can't find it, Jesse, and it may not be able to display the pictures now anyway. Have you checked the Burst Serial Log web site? It might be on there.

IIRC, it looked pretty much like this:

There's always the mint 1960 that Normans has for sale.

Try typing in item # 180520448184

Quite clean '59 Burst. Only slightly faded. Nicknamed the "Pin" Burst.

Re: does anyone have pictures of a mint 50s burst?

I was hoping to find examples that still had their burst color unfaded, kinda hard to accomplish, because the clean examples posted and still pretty faded

yeah, that '60 that pops up on ebay is the most unfaded i've seen (at least i think it hasn't faded too much...)

looking at this, you can almost see why they were too strange to take - that's a pretty intimidating colour, even for these days!

that is indeed the bunny. it's almost too clean... if i won the lottery i'd not buy that one.

then again, it may just be my prejudice against the '60 burst colours

Re: does anyone have pictures of a mint 50s burst?

I'm not sure of the date of this picture, but Ol' #1 was not very old here, and I doubt had faded much. Perhaps helpful in judging the amount of fade on that '60, which I think is the one I was thinking was a '58.

I will join you on that! It is too clean (and i personally prefer thicker neck). Even if i made the thread myself , if money was not an issue , i would look for something like this one;

1959 Les Paul on the bay (very pic heavy)

Re: does anyone have pictures of a mint 50s burst?

That pic of Page is from mid 1969, still got the original tuners.

If I put my mind to it I could date the actual gig, but that's not really what's important.

There was a variety of finishes on 'bursts back then though, even before fading.
