Two 50's LP stories in one week

I traded amps with a guy on craigslist a few months ago and he invited me to jam with his band a few weeks ago. After the jam we were talking about local people we know and he said his neighbor has a 1957 les paul that his dad gave him. The guy had it airbrushed with some design which I guess looked terrible. I got stupid and told him what I thought the guitar was worth and he was shocked. He thought it was maybe like $5000.00 and I'm guessing his neighbor thought even less of it. No going back from that mistake, oh well.

My brother in law works for a treasure hunter company and a 1960 burst came in recently. It was bought and resold to a member of Metallica. He told me the numbers but asked me not to say.

I never hear of this stuff so I thought I'd share.

I'm pretty sure he said it was bought in North Carolina. And no, they didn't exactly steal it.

I just called the guy that has the neighbor with the 57, he said the guy wants $1500 for it if he hasn't sold it yet. Starting to sound like hooey to me but he said he'd talk to the guy. I'll play along until I see it. Wish me luck.

No, he just said '57. It'll end up being a cobbed up '77 with my luck.
