Re: Headstock pics

Did they all have asymmetrical headstocks, or is that from only a few examples?

Re: Headstock pics

See photo from Burst wurst above, Contrary to popular belief most burst headstocks are not checked across like all the Murphy's. Some do but most don't. What you will notice when Burst serial is back up,is that alot of Burst headstocks have the sharp corners smoothed over ever so slightly. This is from years of bumping mic stands and cymbals etc. Good luck with your build.

Re: Headstock pics

Burst wurst, is that a bone or nylon nut that yellowed?

Re: Headstock pics

the nut is the same material as originally used in 59. I believe it may be nylon 6. But, I'm sure not certain. I had replaced it with bone years ago (well, a quarter century ago). About 10 years ago, I had my luthier bring it back to original mat'l. I imagine he gave it a coat of laquer then (just the nut, of course).

Re: Headstock pics

Sorry for that bad resolution. I was at a friend's place, and there was '53 gold top, gold back, and all I had was my iPhone. Mine's a '58 Custom, and I don't think that's what you want.
