Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
Well I am having Larry do the binding, two inlays replaced and the side dots. He is going to do the Frets too. The old frets have been removed, two inlays replaced, frets slots cut and the binding on. We will put the frets on this week. The side dots will go in after. Phil at Philtone has had one of my other guitars for over three months now and I am really pissed beyound belief. The guitar will come out great from Phil no doubt, but I don't work well with misinformation.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
Yeah, with the guitar already stripped and it will also be ready to paint, it won't cause a shizzle. I gave a 52 body to Dave a few years ago that half went for payment for the Big Bad and Red, and the rest is owed in work to me. Dave wanted me to make sure guys didn't get pissed because he would spray my guitar. I had this arrangement way before HM started.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
The big thing you will notice after that thick finish is off is the airyness and sustain. The guitar will vibrate through you body. You wait, I won't say anymore.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
bump... we're all waiting for more pics. Got that fret job and binding finished yet? Man that kind of makeover is not for the faint of heart or the unskilled. Kudos for having the stones to go for it and thank you for sharing the story. I bet you could get that in a magazine is you made the effort to contact someone.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
Board is trued up, as you see and Frets are in but not polished or matched to strings. OK the binding is put on and as you will see the dots are being put in. Larry was going to make a jig so he could put them in perfectly straight, and I said hell no, they are all crooked from back then. Here are a few updated pics.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
Scetching out the side dots. The binding will get tanned/stained to better match the body binding.

Re: "This OLD Les Paul"
I was going to use the 6105 dunlops, but the tangs and consistancy of each fret are so off on each one. These came out of Larry's tube that I believe come from Stew Mac, just a bit smaller. I can get the exact size tomorrow. Larry did a 65 ES 335 for me a year ago and I just tend to gravitate to that guitar because they feel better. I like the 6105's but if I push too hard on the notes, I get sharp.
I think this is it.
