Noisy Tone Pot on 1958 Les Paul Junior

I have just got my 1958 Les Paul Junior but it has a really noisy tone pot. What is the recommended cleaning for these old pots?

bes thing: try to clean it
second option: find a suitable NOS replacement
third: RS "normal" pots are very, very similar to old Centralabs. Get one.

Whatever you do not throw away the scratchy pot. You might want it if you decide to sell the guitar eventually

Pick up some contact cleaner from Radio Shack or just about any place that sells electronics.

Stew Mac also has these which help a lot with not getting the contact cleaner all over the place:

Try cleaning it first, and I think you'll have success. Do a search of the forum on the subject to see what the best product is to use?

Get some DeOxit D-5 Contact Restorer! I've use this to bring pots and switches back from the dead.
