I've seen several of old bursts in color that were new or almost new and most had a wide outer band with a fairly quick transition to the amber. Most were a bright cherry red with a wide outer ring, some had the red part of the burst touching the bridge tone knob or even inside it slightly, some didn't.. I like the wide burst pattern, I painted my LP build with a wide Brockburst finish and it looks great.
