Abalone or Plastic

Can anybody advise - Does a '53 Gold Top have abalone or plastic fingerboard inlays?
Any other snippets of information out there on this wonderful guitar?

Re: Abalone or Plastic

the toilet seat stuff stays pretty much white as it is acrylic...the celluloid ones will yellow and darken some over time when exposed to light.

Re: Abalone or Plastic

all is good...speaking of MOTS,I've installed the "monkey " inlays...they went MOTS in colour when sanded. It'll take a bit of time for them to "re-yellow".
