Re: Paul Kossoff

Koss is the master of pure tone IMO. The vids above are great but they sound so much better on DVD.

"Free Forever" is a really good DVD.

I'll get some screen shots up later when I get the time.

Re: Paul Kossoff

These are all screen-shots from "Free Forever". Now go buy it!

"Beat Club, Germany, 1970" (Both the darkburst and stripped burst feature here, but they've smothered the footage with psychadelic effects, so its hard to get any good pics.

Re: Paul Kossoff

Darkburstin' on "Doin' Their Thing, Granada TV, 24th July 1970"

Look between and above the pickups, some beautiful subtle flame:

Simon Kirke's funky boots:

Definately not a plain top! Koss flashes his flame:

(Sadly that's the best pic I could get that shows the flame)

Re: Paul Kossoff

Stripped on Top of the Pops (I think)

This shot kind of shows the carve (I think thats what it's called)...Does it look weird to you? As funky as Simon Kirke's boots?

If you look closely just to the right of Paul's knob(!), you can kind of see a reflection. Some other shots also make the top look real shiny - almost gold in places. So has been re-nitroed or something after the stripping?

Re: Paul Kossoff

Here's an interesting one -

On the dvd, during like a little tribute to Koss, the camera pans across a whole lot of photos, and one of them is of a hand just holding this guitar.

Also this one:

It has sort of a similar flame to the stripped burst, so if the stripping was done during Koss' ownership of the guitar, I think this could be it. I could also be very wrong:

Burst serial log has this next one down as 0 0195:

link (has colour pics of this guitar!): Burst Serial Log

And lastly some Custom action:

Are you trying to say you've seen better pics of Kirke's boots?

1955 Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar owned by Paul Kossoff of Free.

That's a killer photo of Kos playing that Custom by the window.

He was such a little guy in stature, I think he let his guitar playing do the talking.

Subtle, understated, delicate, he knew how to be part of a band without trying to be a guitar hero

My R8 looks a lot like his darkburst.
