Played "Loose Betty" the beat up old '55 Junior on Sat..

I finally got to play my friends Junior on Saturday at the studio. I have to say man these things are so much fun to play. It's like instant tone no matter what you do.
The neck was thick but very nicely shaped and very comfortable to play. The frets were probably filed down over the years but I think these had small frets to begin with. I could see why someone would love some chunky '59 style frets on these. They were nicely leveled none the less and it had no set up issues at all. The action and neck were spot on.

The pots and tone reacted so lovely to each thing you do. The taper on vintage pots are so damn nice. I played through a JCM 800 which has very nice gain but when you rolled down the volume it sounded fendery clean. I was super impressed by the electronics and they weren't noisy or dirty when you turned the pots either. And P90s?? c'mon awesome!!!!!!

I had a lot of fun just jammin away on this thing. I can't wait till we do some recordings!

Here's some pics I took before we went to studio:

That one is a gem! And, IIRC, he got it at a steal too!

He really did! I think people were scared of the headstock repair. But as far as I can tell besides the back being refined there's no other issues with the neck. I dont think it was reset. Eitherway he still got a deal. I've seen many juniors with way worse issues that are going for twice as much!

Sweet, sweet Junior! I agree, you can't get a bad tone out of them no matter what you do! Mine may be an 07 Historic, but it has a 1957 P-90 in it! Tone for days!

Yeah man. I can't believe the score he got on this one. I may just end up getting a reissue one. So much fun to play!
