Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

Opinions seem to be very divided on who should get 9-2227 "stripe" So i thought i'd start this poll to see what you fellow forum members think....

So what do you think should (not what you think will) happen to the burst? should Gary get to keep it or should it be returned to Ronnie??

Heck no Gary shouldn't keep it. At what point did the guitar become un-stolen?

I don't see how this can be spun any other way.

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

Until I see some proof that it's the same guitar, I vote for Gary. The only pic I've seen of Ronnie playing the stolen guitar is too pixilated to say for sure it's the same guitar. And I still want to know why Ronnie waited until 2009 to take action...when it's been established that he has thought 'Stripe' is the guitar stolen from him since (at least) 2002.

+1 for Gary Moore. Ronnie Montrose as known that G M may have had the stolen burst for over ten years. So you have to ask your self, why as it took so long to bring any action against Moore.
The only conclusion I can come up with. He as realised the value of the guitar and his looking for a pay day. IMO.

How does that change the fact that it is stolen? That does not justify keeping stolen goods.

What does that have to do with anything.

I say Moore. Montrose has lived without it for 10 years already, he'll survive.

It's almost been 40 years since Montrose had the guitar.... i'm surprised he can even remember it, he only had it for less than a year.

Montrose, assuming he can prove it was his and he filed a police report at the time.

Montrose because it is his until he decides to sell it and is the better player. Moore is a bum!

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

It's Montrose's guitar.

It's a ripped off guitar in Moore's hands.

Why is everyone so quick to say "he waited 10 years". So there's been no contact between the two yet?

It's Montrose's guitar. He never sold it.

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

Gary Moore. He bought it unknowingly and it's been many years. It doesn't make it "un-stolen" but has it been proven beyond a doubt that it was actually stolen and that it is indeed the same guitar? All kinds of funny drunken deals were made back then. I'd venture to say that a lot of stars have "reasigned" instruments.

Maybe we should give the western United States back to the Mexicans, or better yet, the whole country back to the Native American Indians.

It's in Gary's possesion, maybe he should sell it to Montrose for what he paid for it. That would be fair.

YES.

Yeah, that's a valid comparison. I don't think Ronnie should pay one penny to get his own guitar back.

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

Legally, Montrose (depending on statute of limitations).

Personally - that is a tough call. I lean towards Montrose, but mostly because my notions of right and wrong are generally in agreement with the law. I see it both ways. It is a terrible situation. I wish they could find the guy that stole it in the first place and castrate him. As for sentimental attachment - Moore wins hands down. He's had it forever. Montrose could have purchased another 'burst after his was stolen for a reasonable amount of money. The same cannnot be said today.

I know Gary has had Stripe since 1990 or before. But the only documentation I've seen that Montrose suspected Stripe was the guitar stolen in 1972 dates to 2002. Of course, it's possible he knew before then. Gary has never hidden that guitar from public view...

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

I think the original owner whose home was burglarized while GM and RM where still shitting in their diapers should get it back
Just kidding, but has anyone, including Ronnie considered the possibility that it had already been stolen once or twice before Ronnie bought it?
Oh, and while we're at it... GM and RM should engage in a guitar duel to the deaf to determine if either one of them is really worthy of a Burst

Ronnie. It's his...

As far as a duel, that'd be tough. Ronnie still has his chops but his bout with brain cancer has taken some of the fire out of his playing. Which is understandable...

Re: Poll: Moore or Montrose who should keep it??

This is ridiculous. We have very little information about this case. Unless you're directly involved with either party, you don't know squat and are just stating an uninformed opinion. How is that helpful?

If the applicable statute of limitations has expired, then the guitar would legally belong to Gary Moore. If you want to make up a word and call that 'unstolen', then it's possible for the guitar to be 'unstolen'.

Doggone it Cola, do you have to be so logical?

Pesky statute of limitations, anyway...
