57-59 necks?

Is there a big difference in the size and shape of a 57 Les Paul and a 59 Les Paul??

Define BIG difference ?? I guess your talking neck carve ?? They were all hand shaped necks with tons of varience from LP to LP ... 57's & 58's are supposed to be a fatter carve while the necks got progressively smaller in 59 and slimmer yet in 60 !

Re: 57-59 necks?

Actually, I have found the 57 neck to be significantly larger than the 58, 59 and 60. The 57 felt clunky to me and VERY firm and ultimately having a larger difference from its brothers in the 50's arena.

The difference between the 58, and 59 necks is variable, but not as big a difference in neck size to the '57. I am fonder of the '58 neck size and I consider the '59 to be thin. I thought I would like the 60's neck profile the best, but I find it fatigues my hand the most. I doubt I will ever go back to a 60's style neck.

In short (given my experience and the one's I have played)

57 neck -> Biggest,significantly beefier than a '58 neck
=========================================
58 neck -> Large, but not as large as you may thing. Close to the '59 profile (in my opinion) and a nice neck
59 neck -> Nice neck, not as large as the '58, and not as slim as the '60's The difference between the 58 is not that significant, but it is different

================================================== ==
60's neck, fairly thin and a nice neck and comfortable. The problem with this neck for me, is my hand fatigue's playing this size neck.

hope this helps

None of the real vintage stuff was as retarded big as some Historics I've played......
