Re: Beauty of the Burst !
Bobbo, this is much closer to the colour of an original burst than anything in BOTB.I suppose it's just to hard to capture the ''look'' of a late 50's Les Paul.I do think the colours are better in tone man, but maybe with photography and printing it's always not quite right. From my own efforts of photographing
''Bursts'' ,the only way to get near, is to take pictures in natural light. Most photos are studio lit.9 0643-o51; 9 0348-031; 9 2318-021, from Bobbos gallery pictures, are others that come closer to the ''look''. Last edited by single cut 54; 11-21-2007 at 04:57 AM. |

Re: Beauty of the Burst !
The thing that strikes me about the (few) bursts I have seen in person is how green the finish is. Even one '60 I saw recently, although having the wide tomato soup burst, had greenish tint to the middle of the burst.
Even in some of the non-studio BOTB pics you can see it a little. |

Re: Beauty of the Burst !
Vintage Burst's are sprayed with a yellow undercoat and then a blue with red on top to give it depth !! When the blue fades slower than the red in the Burst .. You end up with greening !!!
PGS 176-180. Yep, got it..... |

There is a documentary on Burst's already in the can as they say ... The famed MAX made it but I hear it hasn't found it's way to distribution yet !

Re: Beauty of the Burst !
I like that really deep dried blood red on the edges !! Must have been real dark in the 60's !
