Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
Well he did put it about quite a lot during the 70's, I'll ask my mother, fingers crossed
![]() This pic shows the strat one used on "Ten years gone" and had been in the possession of John Paul Jones until he gave it back to Jimmy not long before this was shot .

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
It ain't right seeing Page with a Fender! Well, even though he played the Stairway solo on the LP with a tele......it doesn't look right!

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
Jimmy can play a cigar box with strings on it, AFAIConcerned.
If I get a strat, it's gonna be a maple equipped one, but still not sure if sunburst or this nice cream color, tho. Nice to see Mr. Page getting acquainted with an old long lost friend.

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
Jimmy on playing bass in The Yardbirds, but I'm more interested in what Jeff Beck's got on the neck of his Led Paul at the nut?...surly he's not experimenting with string dampening
..or is he. ![]() This must have been taken during one of his session gig's, Interestingly he had his Danelectro at this early stage of his career.

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
Our Clown friend here on this forum calls the double thumb wheel on the bridge a "BOBBO" mod, 75 was the year of the pic, BOBBO must be a lot older than he looks to beat Page to the punch over this modification

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
And he still owns that one, I've read. One of his first guitars? Vintage '57? Looks like a beauty! Got anymore Sol Studio shots? Besides the little amp one?
I clearly recall the Sex Pistols calling Led Zep, contempuously, "dinosaurs" in the late 70's! hahaha And they nicked Jimmy's wardrobe ideas while they were at it. Too funny!

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
The trouble with that mod on the 2004-2006 Page guitars is that the necks are not all set exactly the same on them. They all come from the factory with the same action setup. But factory action is not quite low enough for me. And on some of the guitars, with the double wheel, the action won't go any lower because the second wheel is in the way. I would not want to remove the extra wheel.....besides not having it on the guitar as it should be, the way they come from the factory is that they are flush with the top of the guitar, like the wheel is there to make the bridge more sturdy. But in the pic of Page above, the wheels are not flush with the top of the guitar. Hmmm.

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
The TYG info re the white strat comes from Ross Halfin's website. He did the session with Page prior to the O2 gig, and Jimmy showed up with the white strat, which John Paul Jones had had on "long term loan" for decades.
Jimmy was delighted to have it back & told Ross all about it - Ross' blog diary is always a useful source for zep trivia as he & Page are close. |

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
That is a tele, shoulda seen that.
Never knew they lined up the session guys like that, interesting. Love the way the tele guy is watching Jimmy. <chuckle> I saw a brief clip of a Les Paul birthday on tv (MTV? Entertainment Today?), must've been 1992 or 93, Jimmy and Jeff (maybe Eric too?) were on both sides of Les, Jimmy was playing (something extraordinary of course), Les was watching Jimmy the very same way as that tele guy. I thought they all looked terribly old then, wow, 17 years ago! Actually, Les looked a little more astounded-incredulous, now that I think about it.

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
Jimmy holds Les Paul's accomplishments in playing and recording techniques as a huge influence on him, so i bet he was as amassed to see Les as much as Les was at Jimmy's playing.

Re: Jimmy Page ... History of his Guitars !!!
you know what i like most about zeppelin, is how they are like comic book superheros, plant looks like an angel, jimmy wears his les paul soo low and has so many little riffs and tricks to throw in, JPJ was sooo good @ following jimmy during their long drawn out jam improves, and of course, bohnom was all the sizzle of buddy rich and gene krupa, but also had such a thunder-ous sound.
what can you say about zep that hasnt already been said 1000 times
