NVGD - 1958 Junior Singlecut!

Back in August I traded my '55 Singlecut towards my '52 Goldtop...great decision, but I missed it like crazy!

I managed to score another great player - this one is from Dan at chambered-reissue.org It's a 1958 with a lot of battlescars...it's had a headstock break and the body and some of the neck were refinned, but the back of the headstock was not. The refin is sort of close to the original finish, but isn't perfect by any means. The headstock repair is super stable/solid, but is rather unsightly, but that only adds to the mojo!

The pup is from 1957, the cap is vintage, and she screams! A great sounding guitar, that plays well - the tiny frets are in good shape, but may need to be replaced for playability sake. The plastics and pots/hardware are newer, and I need to weather some if it so it looks that part. Nothing some good old fashioned rock 'n roll won't fix!

I conditioned the heck out of the Brazilian RW board, restrung it and set the action a little lower, and she's plays and sounds like an old Junior should. On to the pics!

Another cool Junior you got there Stephen.

Refin, repairs, non-OG parts...all mean you can play the hell out of it without worry! Nice case as well (my favorite for LPs)

What's the neck profile like on it?

The profile is actually quite thick, my '55 was between a 50's and 60's, this one is def more towards a fat 50's profile, but not as fat at my '59 Junior.

I do plan on playing the heck out of it! The only thing I may change is to have it refretted with 6105 wire...the tiny frets aren't my cup of tea...

I'm going with Jescar 55090 (.090 x .055) on both mine. I believe it's the same size as the 6105, but is supposed to be better quality. (Gibson has been using this wire on most of the Gibson USA line.)
