1964 Les Paul Custom?!
This guy is wrong I think. I told him it might be a 1974 and he acted like a jerk. Did they make these in '64, I thought no way in hell.. I know Gibson messed with serial numbers ect.

Yeah, he's either an idiot or he's a liar. That's a '70's Custom without a doubt.

Thank you, thought I was losing my mind haha. I was polite about it. Told him they were SG style and he told me togo F myself and that I was wrong. So I told him to have a nice day, and hung up haha.

Re: 1964 Les Paul Custom?!
That guy might want to study up on Les Pauls.
Its common knowledge that that particular LP body style was discontinued in 1960, and not made again until 1968. At least he was very polite about it. ![]() ![]()

Re: 1964 Les Paul Custom?!
You would be surprised. There was a guy on some forum, I forget which (maybe Zakk Wylde's?) who had a Norlin Deluxe he SWORE was a 1964 Les Paul. Claimed it was a custom order or some phucking thing. Dude could play, and he wasn't a complete idiot about guitars, but he was dead sure his Norlin was a '64.
Damned thing had a pancake body and a maple neck, everyone tried to tell him it was a hallmark of '70's Lesters but he wouldn't hear any of it. Far as he was concerned it was a '64 and that was that ![]() Guess it made the Soapbar EMG's he had in it sound better if it was a '64 ![]() Why is '64 such a popular year for phucktards to make wild claims about their guitars, anyways? ![]()

Re: 1964 Les Paul Custom?!
that's the problem Gibson caused by repeating their serial numbers.

1970 or 1974 by the serial number, and made in USA stamp...Oh yea the waffle backs are dead giveaways as well...

Re: 1964 Les Paul Custom?!
Uhh...yeah no argument about this one, as another user said. Dude's a prick if he has the balls to tell someone to f**k off after calling him out on an incorrect advertisement.
We should flag his post into the abyss.

Re: 1964 Les Paul Custom?!
It's still a really good deal on a '74....
if I had the scratch I go buy it from it, and as I was leaving say "Thanks again for the sweet '74 Custom man. Glad I'm taking it to a home where the owner isn't a prick and knows his LP's"
