so...You won a million $ ...which 57-60 Les Pauls would you pick ???
*** Fantasy Les Paul pick lottery ***
Say you won 1 million USD ... but there is a catch : You have to take payment in the form of 1957 -1960 Les Pauls only, Which 3 or 4 1957-1960 Les Pauls would you pick ? For the purpose of this fantasy lottery: - All celebrity owned Les Pauls cost $500 k - All GT's and Plaintops cost $250 k - All other flame and bird's eye guitars and the very rare known Brilliant Blacks (#8 7113 + #0 0162) cost $ 333.33k ea. - Damaged or relic condition Les Pauls are restored as much as you like as part of the purchase price. ![]() The choices are: - 4 plain tops and/or GT's - 3 flame + "other figured" tops - 2 Celebrity owned LP's - 2 plain tops and/or GT's + 1 Celebrity owned LP - Any combo less than 1 million USD but with no balance of money back. (You don't get $84k back for picking a $250 k guitar and two 333k flame top guitars) (You don't get $166k back for picking two $250 k guitars and a 333k flame top guitar) Save and post a pic of each guitar you selected as an attachment, if you can. Most 1957-1960 LP's known to exist, are posted here: Burst Serial Log or you can google pic for celebrity bursts, at least. Here are some celebrity owned bursts and serial #'s, to save search time: #8 2227 Gary Moore #8 xxxx Jimmy Page #2 #8 xxxx Charlie Daniels #9 0006 Mark Knopfler - Dire Straights #9 0663 Joe Perry - Aerosmith #9 0891 Ed King - Skynard #9 0895 G Rossington #9 0975 Peter Green - Fleetwood Mac #9 1081 Don Felder - Eagles #9 1171 Billy Gibbons Pearly Gates #9 1703 Jimmy Page #1 #9 1864 Jeff Beck #9 2208 P Green-G Moore-M Franks #9 xxxx Duane Allman Hot Lanta #9 xxxx Mike Bloomfield #9 xxxx Paul Kossof - Free #9 xxxx McReady - Pearl Jam #9 ???? Keith Richards x 2 (no serial #'s) #9 xxxx Squier - Sanbora #9 xxxx Stanley - Frehley burst #9 ???? Taylor - Richards (no serial #) #9 xxxx Derek Trucks #9 xxxx E Van Halen #0 1182 P McCartney #0 1926 H Leese - Heart #0 1939 Keith Richards #4 #0 2453 Clapton Beano (missing) Finally, if one you picked resembles one of your LP's, then post it too This thread is for entertainment purposes only. I hope actual vintage LP owners won't be offended. This thread was posted in the Other Les Paul forum and a mod promptly moved it here without notice .

Assuming the Bloomfield is a great player that would be my choice.
Ed King's is pretty cool as well. I'd probably look for a killer '58 & pocket the change for something more worthwhile.

If I win a million, I'm sure not spending the bulk of it on a guitar.
But just to be fun and not a total party pooper, I'd have to go with a '57 with black plastics and dark back. I'm sure there aren't too many of those floating around. And just one would be fine for me. I don't need 2-3 more.

A whole bunch of Juniors and Specials.
Preferably from 58 - 60. Maybe a couple of the singlecut bursts from 57, but mostly DC Cherry and TV.

Ooops!
![]() I should read for meaning! Bloomfield + '58 Plaintop- + GT. Although the Page No. 2 would probably sell for way more than $1M on the open market, even today......................so maybe the Page N0.2 & the Bloomfield.

If it's all the same, I'd rather have this above any Burst in the world...

I would go with Page #1 and a monster flame top like this one:

There are so many to choose from, but the only one that keeps making me say WOW every single time is Larry's 59', i would get that with out thinking of anything else.

Assuming I HAD to pick a guitar and could not resell it or anything, i'd take one of Page's bursts, Pearly Gates, and maybe another one with a more plaintop appearance.
