Base price for a '59 or '60 LP Junior

What is the going rate for a good condition Les Paul Junior, either a '59 or a '60 vintage model? (in the UK)

I'm tempted to visit a shop that has a few in stock, but I would like to be fore armed with an understanding of the price range. The shop in question does not advertise their prices and you have to make an enquirey, but every time I do, I never get a response, so I though it better to actually visit in person.

Re: Base price for a '59 or '60 LP Junior

I recently bought a 60 junior in excellent condition with unfaded finish , original case , strap and lead for £5250 . That's probably the top end . The same dealer had a 59 that had been well used , with re pro tuners and filled holes from a previous Bigsby for £3650 ,see Vintage Guitar Boutique , they're in Whitechapel . Also , Guitar Classics in South London currently have two 59s , one at just under £4000 , and another for a little less . Hope that's useful info .

According to this post Vintage Guitar Show photos

1950s Gibsons would fall under the category of collectors items of historical interest and therefore exempt from duty on importation to the EU. It'd definately be worth looking into especially with US prices so much cheaper than UK prices, take off the customs duties and it'd almost be worth buying them just to flip

custom duties is only one side of the coin, VAT is the other side if you import to EU.
Best is to buy outside and bring the guitar as your own belonging home.....

Are we sure that's even a vintage Gibson? Nice price for a project, tho.

I'm not sure, but I guess so. Maybe MLP vintage specialists can give an estimation.

You still have to pay VAT at 5%, so there's a bit to add on if you use this customs code.

Gary Winterflood has got a nice looking '59 at a reasonable price for the UK.

GuitarAvenue Ltd - Specialists in Vintage and Rare Guitars - www.guitaravenue.com

My '59 was sent to me in the UK from the USA from a dealer just under a year ago. Fairly light one, got the dealer to pick something I'd like the sound of from about 10 Juniors. He was right on the money, suited me down to the ground. VGC rather than mint - ran in at about £3700 with shipping and VAT. Not sure how much better you'd do nowadays - makes the one Gary's got seem pretty reasonable to me.
