Believed to be Les Paul personal 58 custom!

Forum member damndirtyape71 posted this on the backstage area and i think this will get a better appreciation in this section as it is a very very rare 58 custom as they say in the videos.

Enjoy.

If anything, that guitar has more value, if it is Les, then any other les paul not owned by him. It is a clear statement of the endless creativity of a genius!

What other Vintage les paul owner can compare....

I couldn't disagree with you more on that one, Nico.

I just don't see it being worth a ton, no matter its provenance.

Thanks for sharing the vids though.

This guitar was discussed here when it was up on ebay.

here's a nice little Gibson LP that needs some minor repairs (Les's Personal guitar)

Bullpuckey. If the guy in the video is Neil from Neil's Vintage Guitar in PA, he's the guy that bought it on ebay and he's the one that owns it. There isn't another guy that "owns it" and hired him for that research. The lawyers must have finally called and said it's okay to sell it now...

The guitar was stolen I believe prior to selling on Ebay. Didn't we discuss or someone contact the guy that he should return it.

Correct. That was me. I contacted the seller after the auction, who gave me the buyer's email address. Turned out to be this guy. We exchanged a bunch of emails about it, then he got pissy and stopped corresponding if I remember correctly.

Didn't you also find out that several things were stolen from a property of Les. Amazing that this guitar passed through so many hands and it lost it's story. To think any of us could have bought it.

Nope!

Fun Fact: Multi-track recording was actually developed in Germany in 1943 (2-track), then in '55, Ross Snyder developed the first 4-track recorder. LP only perfected/pushed the limits (as he did with just about everything else he did) when he became the first person to custom-order one of the first Ampex 8-track recorders.

Not that he wasn't a great musician/inventor/innovator, but if most people actually took the time to do a little research, they'd realize that his main contribution to the LP (besides the Trapeze TP and gold finish) was his name/status. He was basically the "Slash" of the '50s.

As for the value of his personal/modified guitars? Sadly, they're not worth what most people think, except to maybe a few choice collectors? Because, the bottom line is, yes, they were LPs guitars, but they were modded by him, for him, therefore would be of little use to most players from a playability POV.
