Bumpitty, bump,bump... Damn, I'm glued to this thread BOBBO! Some awesome examples of Burstage, and two of the nicest Plaintops I've ever beheld. Look at the patina on that last one.
Oh, and did I mention BUMP?

Thanks, Don...Baby Duane's doing just fine! I can't wait to get a little further along on my latest project so I can post some photos. This one's just a little bigger than my previous ones.

That appears to be the 1974 18 watt combo, or a good likeness of one

Hmm, a low watt Marshall. I may be onto something.... Hmmm.. Gotta get out and play some more Marshalls.

I'm in a low watt stage of amphood these days, though I strayed last week and got a 50 watter, but it has a post master volume.

I said it before, will say again, pppsssssssssssssssssst Ceriatones ! the 36 TMB has a half power switch taking down two El 84s for a sweet 18 watts Tone variable switch as well. This would be somewhere in line for me after I get a 5E3 Tweedy type Deluxe
but I also soon will hopefully have this on the way hehehehe

They spec out cool and like you have mentioned are the answer for a great attenuator. They have three models.
Mass 25 watt -- $160
Mass 50 watt -- $190
Mass 100 watt -- $225

I wonder if using the 25 watt one would bring down these 18 watters safely. I would guess so. Or would one of these boutique 8 watters be workable with one?
Like my Carr Mercury. A little too low in volume at 1/10 watt, but soo much tone...oh yeah! At 2 watts it is way too loud for my home playing and does not have the tone of the EL 34 baking. Like you mentioned before, I guess anything would be safer than the old Sholtz Power Soak, eh?

As you can see , I'm trying not to use pedals for distortion, though I do have some.

Well, I am getting this monster for a few reasons, the 25 watter could definitly do an 18 watt safe, All its really doing is absorbing excessive wattage and putting it to use around the speaker motor , This thing could handle every amp I own and or plan to buy. , also make it safer to gig my Seymour Duncan and get more plexi tone from the dirty channel Nautural distortion first, then your pedals for any added over the top you might require

Re: Burst Picture of the Week

Is yours a Duncan Convertible combo? I've been seeing pics of one in the forums of late. I never think of them when it comes to electric guitar amps.
