# 8-6761 ... This guitar was obviously a Darkburst but even with considerable fading through the years still has very wide bands of vivid color ...

Nice to see some of my "Lefty Archives" pictures are still floating around out there in cyberspace. I took those pictures at Guitar Trader, in Red Bank, NJ, in Nov. 1985. I went there to try out the lefty 59, and maybe make her mine. I spent most of the day playing this guitar, but I couldn't quite convince myself that it was worth the $8500.00 asking price. Hindsight, sheesh! One of the highlights of the trip was when Jay Scott (to make a point about the extensive inventory) pulled eight bursts, all 59s, out of a storage rack and laid them across the floor at my feet! A great day to be sure!

Bobbo I think you'd agree there is something about a burst that just bursts tone even in a picture you can look at it and just say "damn that guitar must wail!"

Those cant be original pups, could they? I thought '58's only had black pups, never whites or zebras. Didnt those only come about in 59-60??

Correct, not original......but a very common mod back in the day. This is the reason my Braz R8 has DW's.....it is my homage to this.......

One of my favorite 60 bursts! Did it have a thin neck? Larry C is a great guy and that was great of him to let you check it out with hands on. If I had a half mil layin around that guitar would be mine!

Great AC/DC shirt there Bobbo. Love that band! The new album sounds great to me. Glad to see the guys still rockin and selling lots of CD's.

Let me know how that neck was...

I'm guessing that was quite a lot of money back then...

you just got ripped-off if you paid that much in 1959. you're definitely gonna cry

catalogs from '58-'59 shows a price of $247.50 for a LP Std Burst.
it went up to $265 on the 1960 catalog.
