How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
Update - 09.23.08:
Hey guys, I've spoke with Peggy and she and I agreed that I will be taking your offers via PM. The vintage 1952 Gibson Les Paul now belongs to her and she wants to sell. Serious offers only, please!! For now she'll accept a cashier's check or wire transfer (I'll confirm with her on that), so you gotta have the money in hand before making an offer. No PayPal or CC. Once she selects the offer that interests her, you and Peggy will talk and take it from there. To send me an offer via PM, click on my username and select "Send a private message to Alex." Please include your full name and phone number in your PM. Thanks and good luck! P.S. I'm only helping out here and making things easier for the buyer and seller. I'm not making any money out of this. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + I got an email from a lady who would like to know how much her husband's 1952 LP, bought in 1969 and refinished in coffee sunburst, is worth. I'm no expert, but what do you guys think? Seen this particular LP somewhere before? ![]() Update: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

re: How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
We'd have to see the back of it and see what other changes were made...remember the sunburst POS that woman Joan was selling that had changed and routed tuners, broken neck repair, no case and a host of other issues and she lucked out with $8,200...
If I remember correctly Mike60 and I agreed on that one...it was not worth more than $3,500 to $4,500? Was that right Mike?? She totally lucked out and someone got shammed |

If its hasn't been sanded, rerouted, or a repaired neck crack, and has its original electronics and hardware, its worth more than 5000.00.

If it's as it looks ( which is good besides the refin ) With a nice restoration back to a Goldie ... Could be worth 12~13k ...

Thanks for the quick response guys. I will send better pics tomorrow. No neck problems to my knowledge. I took this pic before leaving for work. Maybe with better lighting
and background you can tell more. He uses 1967 Super reverb. He may be interested in selling both. Peggy |

I like it as is......send it to me for an "appraisal"....it'll be very thorough...and shouldn't take more than say 15 years

Nice pointy corners on the headstock! That is a good sign as to how it was cared for, I'd think.
More pictures would surely help the pros weigh in with more accuracy... Very cool guitar. Still got the original tuners? |

Hi Peggy, I'm looking for a 50's P-90 'player' condition guitar atm, if your husband is interested in selling it (after you've had it appraised), I'd be very interested.

re: How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
...I have an idea of this one's value, based on what I see, which I will keep to myself.
The value also will depend on what case comes with it.No one yet has asked the question. |

Nice...Very nice....well we know the tuner holes have been routed to fit the Grovers (originals included?)...is that dark of a back originalk or a refin along with the top paint job??

Re: How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
i have been following this thread from the beginning and its obvious that if the owner wants to maximise the most money from selling the guitar it should go to ebay.................
after all i am sure peggy has had more emails than actual posts in this thread just my opinion |

if you are going to restore...it only would need a top re-shoot.the sides and back are well done and there's no reason for a redo of the whole guitar. It's a cool looker tho' in it's present state. |

Re: How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
Depends on which of the parts are original, and whether the original tuners are still about. Definitely worth 9 with all the bits, but it's a buyers market at the moment, so it might not fetch it. I'd say you're in the right ballpark.

Re: How much is this worth? 1952 Refin [PICS]
Just my opinion its worth what one can get for the old wood and fingerboard and pups. I would make an offer but too many here want it, and I dont like bidding wars. + Too many good guys here to argue with. And I'm afraid the market on guitars is about to seriously collapse, I damn sure hope I'm wrong.
