Re: How much is a pre-1963 PAF worth?
Kim, awesome inventory you have there. I've been toying with the idea of selling 1 of my PAF's... possilbly all 3 those prices make it tempting.

[quote=BCRGreg;237103]Long or short magnet?
Bobbin colors? Black coil wires or white/black? Cover or not? Sticker intact? Output? I just paid $1500.00 for a long magnet, double black, don't know about the wire colors because of cover. No sticker, output of 7.8K. Came from a buddy, who got it from Randy Peterson. Sounds awesome! |

Re: How much is a pre-1963 PAF worth?
I don't exactly know, but while I was in Philadelphia at the Great American Guitar Show, my great friend Jack Romano, was taking apart a 1956 LP Custom, that this gent had purchased on the Bay for $10K. It had been routed for PAF's and had a repaired headstock break.
The majority of what he paid for the guitar, would probably be for the two PAF's, One was claimed to be a'59 and the other a '61. We measured the longer magnet one, and the other ones magnet wasn't exactly 1/8" shorter, but damn close. Here are some pics, we took the covers off btw: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So the rest of the guitar may have been worth, say $2500, but had non original tuners, ect and was stripped of the original finish and painted in some 'orrible poly mess. Re: How much is a pre-1963 PAF worth?
The previous guitar was being dissasembled at Jack's workshop, this next guitar, we took apart on this guys stand. It was like an episode of CSI!
![]() He had paid $10K as a dealer for this '59 type Burst. It appeared to have a maple cap fitted, as it was delaminating at the center seam. There were 'issues' in the pickup cavities, the PAF's appeared to be correct, the gut had the M69 rings switched out just before he got the guitar. Also the inlays appeared to be either transplanted, ect. But the vibe to the neck, board, was of a later type. What do you guys think?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Emerald
