Re: 68 LP Custom
Ok that's the second '68, '69 BB I have seen today.
Where have you guys been hiding?? Jeff, What's up with the CS Cert? Where did you get the case? Any mods done on that drop dead gorgeous guitar? In case you missed her in another thread here's my 1969 BB. I received her under similar circumstances... we were very lucky. The end of the Decade of Love! ![]()

Re: 68 LP Custom
My uncle actually had someone from Gibson look it up because he wanted to see if it was an actual 68 or not, and it was indeed. he aksed if he could order a sweet case from them and he got the case and the cert 6 days later.
I dont remember if thats how it went or not, but thats what i know. He has pics of him in the guitar store buying in 1968

Here is my (not so) weak attempt at putting the two together. It's an '07 '68 LPC but I swear it feels just like my '69. Actaully the 57's sound better than the PAF's I have in the '69... go figure? ![]() I was "given" my '69 BB when I was 12 y/o (1979) by someone who thought I needed a "good" guitar as well! So does the cert pertain to the "case" or was the '68 BB sent into Gibson for anuthentication and then received the cert? I'm thinking of getting rid of the circa 1993 case with the pink diaper and may be very interested in getting a more period correct case! The mods I made on my '69 were needed at the time but I still have all the original parts, though, after recently checking all the original parts I think someone pulled the old swticher-roo on my original tuners? But back in 1993 who was thinking these axes would be worth what they are today? I should have paid closer attention back then!

Re: 68 LP Custom
Thanks wellgood!
I just added the '07 '68 LPC this past March and really love it, and it gives me the opportunity to play the '69 less even though I find it difficult to keep my hands off her! Earlier this month I added an '08 G0 1960 LPC VOS in aged honeyburst! Others get hardons for the 1950's RI's. Me, I'm a 60's baby!

Re: 68 LP Custom
Very nice!... but... what good is it doing you if you don't really play it? it may be valued at $22800, but if you don't plan on selling it why not get some use out of it? or even if you do plan on selling it, still get some use out of it, i dont think a few pick marks and haze and swirl marks are gonna degrade the value by much if any lol... I think expensive guitars carry to much of a stigma... I suppose if one just wanted it to say they have it and to take pictures of then itd be fine to not touch it... but if a musicians going to own such a high dollar vintage guitar that appreciates good sound then why wouldn't they play it more often? You say be jealous, but strangely enough im not... Im acutally kind of feeling sorry for you because you say that your scared to touch such an amazing guitar that you have at your disposal every single day lol... Im sure it sounds spectacular, plug it in more often!

Re: 68 LP Custom
What other guitar do you have that is on par with that Custom?
By the way... your wound strings only have like 1/2 a wrap on them!?!?! I have a 1969 Les Paul Deluxe that I play every day. Because it deserves it.
