It does seem prehistoric sometimes. I have literally seen people's jaws drop when I tell them Santana did not write Black Magic Woman.

Or even Judas Priest and the Green Manalishi.

I play "Black Magic Woman" sometimes and I like to announce it, without giving the title, as, "This is a piece of black blues written by a nice Jewish boy from England and made into a world hit by a nice Mexican boy from California." But whenever I do it similar to the Fleetwood Mac original, there's always one schnook who hollers out, "Play it the right way!!!!!!"

But then my burg there are people who think Stevie Ray Vaughan wrote "Voodoo Chile, Slight Return," Cream wrote "Crossroads," Aerosmith wrote "The Train Kept A-Rollin'," Foghat wrote "I Just Want to Make Love to You," and the Allman Brothers Band wrote "Stormy Monday" . . .

Re: Live color footage of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac

Very awsome indeed! That's the stuff alright. I can't think of another band that changed so frequently but each lineup had a wonderfull character of it's own. Greenie's da' man, but Kiln House is great too. Some of Bob & Danny's stuff is very moving, & of course I'll always have the hots for Christine.

Thanks for puttin' that up.

Re: Live color footage of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac

A lot of the stuff they did in the 70's after Peter left is quite good in the poppy/musical sense. Sure, it lacked the intensity and rawness of the original lineup, but it's still enjoyable. They should have just changed the name.

But don't get me wrong, the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green is the best Fleetwood Mac.

Yeah, I don't mind Rumours at all.

Here's some more, though not color:

Re: Live color footage of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac

When Peter Green was in the zone, few if any could touch him.
Its such a shame to see him now. Hes a fraction of what he once was.
Chalk up another one to drug abuse. I dont mean to railroad the thread, but I know
you guys will forgive me for posting this clip.

This track still sends shivers up my spine.

Re: Live color footage of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac

I'm not so sure it was totally drugs... He quit in May of '71, but didn't check into rehab until a few years later IIRC.

I am blown away every time I listen to him, especially his live work.

Can anyone else appreciate the humor of them performing "Rattlesnake Shake" at a Playboy party?

Agree. Not just drugs. It also didn't help that Peter, Danny, and Jeremy were all psychologially/mentally tempermental. I'm surprised they were able to last as long as they did. Mick and John were the stable ones that kept the band together.

You can almost sense that unspoken tension in their live clips. But at the same time, that's what made them so hypnotic and beautiful.

@deepblue, I love that track. So few notes, but so much felt. Peter's solo album "In The Skies" kinda goes back to that same kind of vibe. Snowy White does most of the guitar work on it, but Peter's singing is still great.
