Re: What Would YOU DO to Own a Real BURST ???
nothing.... a guitar is basically wood, metal and plastic ...... whether it be a real burst or not.... in my opinion real bursts are so over rated.. just because they were popularized by some legendary guitarists doesn't mean that its value should go up. Thoses guitars don't get played ....they are just put in a display glass or locked in a vault.... a valuable guitar is one that gets played everyday.

Reminds of that episode of The Family Guy with that Klondike commercial.
TV: What would you do for a Klondike bar? Would you stand on one leg? Guy: Sure TV: Would you act like a monkey? Guy: Uh-huh! oo oo ah ah TV: Would you.. kill a man? Guy: Um, uh well... [gun shot] |

![]() I absolutely love my R9 right now, so it'd have to be a superb playing and sounding burst for me to really want it. Having one just to have one is pointless to me--I'd want to play it. I'm giving lessons now--start next weekend... Apparently one of the kids that comes in brings in his Dad's 50's LP...so we'll see.I'll be bringing a camera. ![]() BB |

All in the space of an evening I'd,
Star in a porno, snort coke off a virgins nipples then hire a Ferrari and drive it for 100 miles at 100 mph. Those would be a real challenge for me as they completely go against my beliefs.

Only for a '59, mind you, I'd change my avatar to an animated clown.

I have no clue.. To be honest I'd be fine having a R8 or R9 reissue.

Re: What Would YOU DO to Own a Real BURST ???
Wouldn't have one, the few that I have had a chance to play weren't that impressive.
Collectors and investors created the hype and escalated the price to where guitar players can't own one. Why would I want a guitar that I couldn't play without risk in damage to it's overinflated value? Now when the vintage guitar market tanks and those guys that mortgaged the house for them need money to buy a loaf of bread, I might consider the original 1959 price of $250.00 as being generous after all it is a used guitar.
