Correct they were. Those 3 guitars were in near mint. The 69 having the most wear, which was very little to begin with.

Those tags must get in the way of playing.

Re: Gotta love these...

Not to rain on anyone's parade but shouldn't these be in the Norlin section?

Interesting; that 1972 model on the left used to be mine. I have a ton of photos of it. But I don't remember selling it to you. Did I? Or maybe you bought it from the person I sold it to about 2 years ago? Actually, I think I used to own all 3 of them; and I believe I sold all 3 of those guitars to the same person. Are you the one who bought them from me? Are your initials M.S.?

Small world. Earlier this year I helped M.S. Sell these. I was sad to see all of them go. How were you able to pick them out from a front photo only? BTW did you not think these were in great shape? I was nearly floored first time I seen them.

And as always I never post any photos of any guitars while for sale. Only after if I wish to show any off.

The 72 model was the dead give away. I know that guitar very well. Then I remember I sold him the other two as well. They were all very nice. I hope he didn't lose any money. I wrote him an email recently asking if he wanted to buy my 1968 custom that was just as nice as those, if not better. Never heard back from him. That guitar sold. I have a couple of 1968 Gold Tops for sale now.

Yeah...um...Norlin bought Gibson in 1969, that would make them Norlins regardless of whether they were produced in Kalamazoo or Nashville. In addition the tag on the Norlin Forum on this site states "Les Pauls from 1969 - 1987"

They are definitely Norlins. In mid 1969 Norlin became the owner of Gibson and that started the era of pancakes and 3 piece necks.

OK fine... to be 100% technical sure they are Norlins, but they are the good ones. Anyhow looks like I posted in the wrong spot.

@ him losing money, not a clue as to what he got them from you at, so I cannot say. And on that note, maybe we have bumped paths at a guitar show? Which shows do you setup at?

haha I am not a dealer. I have only been to one show - the Dallas show about 2 years ago. Yes, those guitars are some of the more desirable Norlins for sure. All of them have the Gibson Patent bridge (like today's ABR-1), light weight tail piece, decal patent pickups, mahogany necks, etc. I never really warmed up to the fretless wonder frets too much. They were cool at first. But not so much afterwards.

Well then that explains it. I am sure we passed right by each other and did not even notice. So with that said it is safe to assume you have been strolling the Dallas floor these last few years? We always have a both there.

Anyhow cool guitars none the less.

JUST TEASING ...........

Ps ....when you play a beat to hell 71 Tele with frets the thickness of a human hair for 10 years , the customs seem like really huge frets .. Tell ya , my 68 cust frets are way better shape than 99% of the really old 50's customs I've held. Some of them are truely close to fretless.

What you need is a vintage guitar that is almost as good as new.......like a 69 Gold Top Les Paul Standard!

Musicians Headquarters, though we have not always setup at the show. Sometimes we found it better walking the floor. We always have a booth now.
