That sucker came out NICE! I love those exposed dovetails, and the cooling ports in the back!

Re: Atlas Amp Stands
TY y'all
This is a matching pair of Walnut Atlas Amp Stands. One is a Studio design with an extension backrest. The other is a Low Rider design with a matching Table Top that fits perfectly in the center if the base of the stand. Both fold and are super light weight with attachments for a carry strap. ![]()

That tabletop model is really a great idea! These things just keep getting more and more innovative! Don't forget I'll be ordering a few for the shop soon!

Re: Atlas Amp Stands
Finished up one of the larger projects this week. Walnut Low Rider Atlas stand with a fold out guitar stand to fit a LP, includes a separate guitar stand for an acoustic as well as a powered pedal board.
The Amp Stand weighs 9.5 pounds The Guitar Stand weighs 3 pounds The Pedal Board weighs 8 pounds It's an honor to build this kind of hardwood guitar gear. Kind Regards, Josh ![]() ![]() And here is the pedal board as it would look if it were mine ![]()

Re: Atlas Amp Stands
Josh,
Sean's little collection is phenomenal ! I particularly like the pedal board, as it has beautiful figuring - almost a shame to put pedals on top of it. God may make the trees, but you do such an artistic job of utilizing the grain and figure to enhance your designs. I'm a big fan ![]() I should quit spending money on other gear, so I can buy some of your amp furniture ! Congratulations !

Re: Atlas Amp Stands
Thanks bilbarstow
I intend to make myself a petite pedal board, one of these days. I'll probably make it out of sassafras to match my 1968 Ampeg seen up thread. I love seantk's gear, it is the largest and lightest weight matching set I've built thus far. The enclosed dado joints on the amp stand make it 5-10 times as strong as any butt joinery; it will be around long after we are all gone. Matching hardwood guitar gear is fantastic in many ways. Aesthetically they blow the other stands away, especially if it stays set up in the living space of a home most of the time. I had the metal tube frame stuff for decades in my home and always thought it made my place look like a weight room in a gym. All I needed was a treadmill to match my rig, lol Atlas Stands sound simply amazing on hardwood floors: ![]() ![]() ![]() Next up - I'm making a matching pair of chassis stands out of some nice thick cherry timber for a builder out of Canada! They look something like this: that's my 68 ampeg on it ![]() ![]() Link: Amp Tech/Builder Chassis Cradles - Cherry - Matching Pair John getting ready to wrap up another Low Rider with LEDs in it so the owner can find his rig when he goes on stage before the lights come up. link: Marshall DSL401 Combo Cherry Low Rider I create build threads for all of my builds so that anyone with the time and energy can build their own hardwood gear. I try my best to empower my fellow guitarists to get creative with their setup, make it unique, not to settle for cookie cutter gear that comes of an assembly line, and not to approach their stands with the throw away mentality. Atlas Stands are built to last several lifetimes. All my metal amp stands rusted out and got bent up, they are in a landfill now, that won't happen with Atlas Stands because they are hardwood, easy to repair and strengthened in the process, they only get better with age. They will get handed down through generations which is super cool IMHO. I wish I had more of my Grandfathers guitar gear, it's sentimental gear I build, it has soul, and when I use it I feel better and more in touch with the world around me The motivation to build hardwood guitar gear is multifaceted, no doubt ![]() Thanks for all the support MLP! My gratitude is without bounds! Let me know if you have any ideas and I'll be happy to help! Kind Regards, Josh Childers |

Re: Atlas Amp Stands
Here are the latest Atlas Amp Stands completions from this past weekend
The first is a basic two-tone Low Rider with blue LEDs so that the owner can find his rig when the stage lights are down. It has a Cherry base and a Walnut backrest. It'll be holding a Marshall DSL401. The LEDs run on two AAA bats and will easily last several days without needing to be changed. I put my '68 Ampeg Reverberocket II on it. ![]() The second build is a matching pair of Cherry Amp Chassis Cradles for an Amp Tech/Builder out of Canada. The front tray is for his tubes, components and building tools. I seriously hope each and every handwired guitar amp that he builds on them finds its way to a worthy owner. ![]() ![]() Kind Regards, Josh |
