Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

There is a great discussion in another thread about why BOOTEEK. Someone recently made to comment that they can get the tone they need, at lower stage volumes, by going with a small builder. That made me think about why I do what I do.

I set out to build my amp based on three criteria:
1) it had to low powered so that tube saturation would kick in before volume overload.
2) it had to have under-rated speakers so that you could get speaker distortion.
3) it had to be compact and lightweight so it would be easy to haul around.

My RUDE MOOD does all of these very successfully. I have posted studio and Amp show footage of the #001. I don't know if I have posted any of my live footage of the prototype. Here are two videos of the prototype during some of my smoke test sessions. I had friends kind enough to road test the amp and try to blow it up - I wanted to see what it would take, worst case, and resolve any issues before the final version.

The first video is outside on a warm summer night. My buddy Laurence played the entire 2 hour show with my prototype. The amp is mic'd into the PA for a good mix. He used some pedals for a clean boost so you are primarily hearing the RUDE MOOD. The video is long. Someone since told me not to go over 3 minutes or they get boring. Try to listen to the whole thing as different guitars and styles are being demonstrated.

The next video is everyone's worst nightmare. Room too small, drummer too loud, ceiling too low, singer too high, and no sound reinforcement. I really thought this would kill the amp, if anything was going to blow up the amp, it was going to be this night. Again, the video is long but please get through it.

So that was the prototype. Slight changes were made for #001 at the LA Amp Show; and I have made slight changes again to get a little more volume and reverb. I want to show that an amp does not have to be 50 or 100 watts to get good tone - sometimes it is better if it isn't.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I think I have another couple of hours left to finalize the RUDE MOOD 'HNL' series. I can already hear this thing in my head. An extra gain stage in the RUDE with a pair of EL34's. A biggie-sized reverb in the MOOD with a pair of 6L6's. Dual 40watts!

These will come in a 2x12 combo and head version with 2x12 & 4X12 cabinets. These WILL be available in 230V as well.

Keep an ear out!

yeah...... and he would ONLY play through the MOOD! I tried to pull up the RUDE a little, keep it clean, but nope. He would have none of that.

So at least you can tell what YOUR MOOD will be like

What are the dimensions of the cabinets for the Original Rude Mood and the new HNL model?

Also, what's the cost for an extension cabinet from your supplier?

I'm planning way ahead, I know, but the subject of your amp came up today when I was talking with a buddy of mine on the phone, and after all the time I've spent crowing about how much I like my current combo stack setup, I'm totally gonna want to go that route when I have the loot to get onboard.

The RUDE MOOD is 22.5 wide x 15.75 tall x 10 deep (bottom) 8.75 (top). Weight = +/- 40 lbs.

The RUDE MOOD 'HNL' should be 29.5 wide x 19.5 tall x 10 deep (bottom) 8.75 (top). Weight = +/- 48 lbs.

I can get the 2x10 extension cabinet, loaded with matching webers, for $315.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I disappear for awhile and I miss all this....that happens to be interesting to me....anywhere here in central CA I can play one? Right now I do not have the money (I really have to pay off some bills first) but it is certainly on my very interested list....that is a nice price for a 2x10, what about the 4x10 (that would be much better for me) have made and priced that one yet, any idea on the wieght of that?.....peace

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I do have 1 RUDE MOOD in Bakersfield that we could get you to play. The owner has a music store and would probably be willing to take it in and let you play it there.

The 4x10 combo goes for $1,700 and should weigh under 50 lbs. I have not built one yet but I am going off of the additional speaker weight and a little more weight on the cabinet.

Let me know if you want to set up a demo

I guess I should point out that the $1,700 is an MLP price only. These will normally sell for $2,100. I am really excited about the 4x10. I have been wanting to make one for myself for about a year now.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

The cabinet for River's RUDE MOOD will be in tomorrow - I can't wait!

Some of you know the ordeal I have had finding a builder for the cabinets. I can not build the cabinets in my garage, due to a sucky HOA nazi, so I was forced to find a builder that would build to my spec and deliver a high quality product. Lopo Line met my challenge and tomorrow I get to see the first OEM.

They sent pics of the cabinet and I must say that so far I am impressed with their work:

Now, if the chassis fits................

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I took the RUDE MOOD to a local blues jamb last night. The guy hosting the event played it all night and it got a LOT of good reviews! Things should really start moving now

Don't miss out on the special MLP price of $1500!
River, Leendrix and mudfinger like this.

WOW!

I spoke with 2 content editors, from 2 different print magazines, about doing a piece on RUDE MOOD amps!! Things are really starting to move around here.

What's "HOA"?
