Definitely not the strong suit of this amp. I was showing it's limitations as much as anything else. I would not want someone to buy this amp thinking it would get into that territory - it just won't.

It has to be extremely difficult starting up an amp company. Like every other business, I suppose. Sourcing suppliers, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing are all activities that consume large amounts of time. Difficult to manage without a staff and/or full time commitment.

The one good thing I see about this industry is that you can leverage the internet.

Yeah, I totally understand where you are coming from. It's an amp that does what it does. Having the two different sides makes it more versatile than most. Personally, I buy amps that do one thing good, and just buy more than one amp. This amp actually has two amps already, so you get an amp that does two things really good.
I am not into amps that try to do too many things. I find they end up doing a couple of things just "ok", so you end up with an "ok" amp. If you have an amp that does one or two things REALLY good, then you have a REALLY good amp.
Keep plugging away Randelli, you will get the word out. It is such a tough market, especially with everyone so blinded by brand recognition.
I think you have a great amp there, and a guy like Mudfinger giving his thumbs up goes a long way with me. I would love to try the amp out.

I will have to build an extra one and ship it out for you to try. If I send my #001 I will probably never get it back

Thanks for the kudos!

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Here are some AutoCAD drawingss of the next 2 versions.

I get emails all the time asking about a head version, so, I decided to build one next. You will need a stereo cabinet for this head as, remember both sides have dedicated outputs. I can provide matching 2x10, 2x12, 4x10, or 4x12 stereo cabinets as well.

Next we have the 4x10 combo:

I completed the cabinet and head design and thought I would share them with you. I don't really do any rendering so this is as good as it gets until I build the real enclosures. I'll put some pics up when that happens.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I am spending the weekend working on the push/pull design - the 'HNL'

This puts an extra gain stage & a pair of EL34's to the RUDE; and a roomier reverb & a pair of 6L6's to the MOOD. Result: dual 40watts of sonic bliss!

Well I haven't got that far down the chain yet. I am changing the AutoCAD files as I go, so I started with the larger chassis and tube placement, etc. I may be to that point tomorrow

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Well it looks like I will be using the 'long-tail pair' phase inverter as I do not want to introduce distortion at that point. I am still undecided about fixed or cathode bias. The current design is cathode biased; but the 'HNL' might benefit from being fixed.

This thing will be a monster! 8 preamp and effects tubes, 4 output tubes, maybe a rectifier tube! What is a standard Marshall head size? I am looking at a 28" long chassis lol!

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Who knows about 'LTP' PI sections / bias? I wonder why:

~The Fender Bassman and early Marshall's have a selenium rectifier for negative DC voltage
~The Marshall JMP has a network of resistors, capacitors, and diodes for negative DC voltage
~The Matchless just goes to ground

Okay you guys should form a company and crush all others with some of your designs. Question on the 4x10 did you choose this because it will have a bit more punch to it? Second question will either of you be at the Philly or Arlington show.

By you guys, do you mean me and Cyg?? That would be awesome! It would be hard to work the details being a million miles from each other - OK a thousand....

4x10 will push more air and be LOUDer. I have ran it with a 2x10 cabinet under my amp and it sounds great!! Plus a little nod to the Bassman.

I won't be at the shows. I hope to LA again this fall.

The list price is $2375. TWO hand-wired, 15-20 watt, true class A, single-ended tube amps in one combo. This is not outside the cost of some booteek builder's single amp.

I sell these at $1900 normally.

The special deal, right now, for 5 amps is:

The first 2 are $1500 - more than 20% off of MY sales price - 37% off list
The next 3 are $1700 - more than 10% off of my sales price - 28% off list

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Hey Randy,

Would it be possible to build a RUDE MOOD for use here in The Netherlands/Europe? The voltage is 230V, alternating at 50Hz.
I'm very interested, since you mentioned it in my other thread.

Feel free to PM me if you want to keep the details private.

Cheers!

I will have to find a way to save up without selling all of my gear... these amps from the vids just sound amazing. Kudo's to you! and as with everything else I do, I like to support the small bizness owner 1st.

Great amps man!

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I have been asked that a few times now. This is my only issue - the transformer I need to provide to carry the 230V is larger than the US model. My cabinet is so compact that the UK transformer MAY not fit in the 2x10 package. I have not attempted to put one in yet so I am not sure of the fit - just a hunch.

I can make the cabinet a little taller to fit the transformer in. Let me play around in AutoCAD and see what I have to do to accomodate you.

I am working on the HNL series which will be 2x12 with AB outputs. This gives me a larger cabinet and I will be using a transformer that is interchangeable with several different voltages. This is still in the R&D stages so I have no more details on that one.
