Thanks. Last night was the first public performance during which I drifted off into the zone. It's great to finally be that comfortable. Didn't hurt one bit to not be contending with over-played drums, and having the privilege to jam with two truly great acoustic players, to tunes I love.

We did an acoustic-electric cover of Rocky Mountain Way last night (me on electric, two acoustics). I did not really "know" the song, but was comfortable with most of the riffs and the arrangement is pretty much burned into my brain. We pulled it off surprisingly well, and I had the acoustic players' jaws dropping at the near-dead-on tone.

I left the amp tone stacks as they were, halved the Mood volume and doubled the Rude master volume, boosted my bridge volume to about 8, and switched to middle position. Done deal. Wish I had a recording of it live.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

ZZ is EZ!!

As is Angus, Carlos, Jeff, Derek... I am trying to compile a list of settings for different player's sound characteristics. I usually just hit the iPod and dial the amp in. Maybe some of you could do that and post here? I will assemble them in a visual format and distribute back to all; and new RM owners.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I sold a local guitarist a pedal before his gig last night, and he played on my Rude Mood a bit to test it. He was simply amazed! He had so many questions about it, most I didn't answer because it would have been incorrect. Needless to say he was given Randy's website/contact info! Another musician who saw the light after playing on an RM just for 10mins!

I bet you can sell a LOT of pedals by testing through the RM!

Well, I don't know about that, I haven't really ran pedals through it, so that ^^^ was sales talk How do pedals sound with it as compared to other amps you have tried?

Actually he was testing a Hush Noise Reduction Pedal, I was showing him how much Fuzz my pedal board produces without the Hush plugged up. Don't worry when he was doing a demo all pedals were unplugged so he could hear the RMs tonal variety.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Questions:

Is each side a single power tube? Looks like it.

The cabinet has a 10" speak for each side correct?

Cost?

Any clips of the Mood side? Bunch of driven riffage but I would like to hear some cleans.

Any reverb? Plans for reverb?

Thanks! Cool concept man!

Most of my clips are far from "pro tone clips", but they're quite Mood-heavy. Check this one, let me know how much cleaner you'd like, and what you'd like to hear (that I can play). I'd be happy to oblige.

The Mood side has reverb and tremolo.

Cool! I think I heard the reverb in the "Goin' to Mexico" clip (nice tones by the way!) I would love to hear something clean enough to play some country at "bedroom/small venue" volumes. I understand at this power level, it is not going to stay crispy clean with drums per say, but what about solo coffee shop type of clean? I am not hard to please, I play a Tweed Champ 90% of the time but I would like a clip country/jazz clean with reverb and some trem would be cool! Your blues playing will be more than adequate for this Riv! I appreciate any clips I can get!

Also, if someone could PM me with what these cost, that would be sweet!! Thanks!!

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

I am sure Randy will here soon for pricing info.

You can definitely get some clean volume on the RM. Coffee shop, no problem. Even with drums, it can be worked out if he is not a monster drummer.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Someone say Randy?

Surprisingly the MOOD side stays clean all the way up - unless you dig in with your attack. Most of the live stuff I have heard was blues and, of course, had a bit of dirt on it. It would definitely be coffee shop clean - River can speak on his recent gigs.

Oh, the 2x10 combo is MLP Member priced at $1500

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

River, no need for other clips. I found your extensive library in the NAD thread. Thanks man, this thing is awesome!

Randy, what is your current wait time? Are both speakers working no mater what side is working or is one side dedicated to Rude and one to Mood? Is it switchable from clean to dirty or is it more of a blend deal? Sorry for all the questions but I am still a little confused in its features.

I have seen a few front shots, is there further detail shots posted?

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Each side of the RM has a dedicated pre-amp, tone controls, power section, output transformer, and speaker. It is designed to run both sides at the same time, in a blended mix, but you can dial one off if you like. tex_lt has some back shots I believe in his thread.

Current wait time is 4-6 weeks. Happy to answer any and all questions you may have, either in thread, PM, or randy@rudemoodamp.com I am on the board quite a bit so I usually reply to questions within the same day.

If you go to my YouTube channel, and go WAY back in time, you can here the prototype in some live conditions.

Thanks for the kind words! These things are amazing - really - I get bored easily and sometimes start to wonder if they are all that. Then I dial into a new setting, or hear a new demo posted, or get the email about how happy the new owners are and get excited all over again.

Of course both mics are picking up both speakers and, to a lesser extent, both sets of speakers. Pan them in the DAW and voila - swirling sound and lots of air.

A shout out to Freddy G for giving me lots of great sound-shaping tips, which are available to all just by reading his posts. He's a treasure around here.
Ala Jimmy Page?

Hey River, after hearing one of your clips, a few things moved me.
That almost piano sounding rythm and that looper feel/quality (dynamics) that was goin on. Wasn't like anything i've ever heard!
At the risk of sounding fanboyish, GO RM, GO!!!!

Seriously, this is really ground breaking stuff, man!

I would love to use this amp for what I call 'Storm Playn'. A tech i'm playing around with, that has to do with the unique interplay of storms, old trees & humbuckers and recording.

The passages starting at about 1:20 really have that going for them, and you're not the first one to describe that sound as "piano-like". Even a couple of non-musicians. In-room, it gives me goosebumps, srsly.

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Very cool pic randell! Awesome work! It's cool to see where you build!

Is that two perfectly placed speakers build into your workbench?

Re: RUDE MOOD Amplifiers

Oh my little workbench The whole thing is 24" x 48" with a detachable 12" x 48" shelf unit. There is a built-in speaker for the RUDE and MOOD sides so I can easily test the new builds without having to run cables everywhere.

It all folds up and goes into the closet when overnight guests come over....

Here is the build thread: OH NO! Look what happens when randelli gets bored!
