Re: Best cap for a metal sound
lol, thats what I was thinking... With most metal players they want their gain to really scream... a lot of metal guys wire their pickups straight to the jack bypassing everything all together, no vol, tone, caps... just a to b connection.

Re: Best cap for a metal sound
i say metal tone is all about the amp. If the amp is capable of high gain, and you got a decent humbucker in the bridge you should be alright.

Re: Best cap for a metal sound
Taking out the tone control (cutting the cap) will give the guitar extra highs and sizzle, which works great for metal.

So even though you can't tell a PAF from a 500T on normal single notes anymore, play dynamics do change. It doesn't matter whether you got a cap or not or which one. Just use a 1 Mohm pot, best of all worlds. |
