Wink Video Ash Tele Gibson 496R CTS 250K Pots, 1950's Bumble Bee Cap

This is a rough video I just shot tonight with a used Sony handy cam I picked up, audio is from the camera mic. Not my best playing as I was a little distracted by trying to get the video right. Anyways this was an Ash Esquire I put together then I installed a Gibson 496R Humbucker in the neck that reads around 8.6K. I have a Fender Tex-Mex single coil in the bridge that reads about 8.3K. The pots are both 250K CTS Audio pots with a Vintage 1950's .012 Sprague Bumble Bee Tone cap.

I am running into my Peavey Windsor 15 watt Tube amp (EL34, 12ax7) set clean with a little reverb added in. The first song the switch is in the middle and both pu's are on, the second song I am using just the neck pu. Both these songs are originals that I wrote. I hope to have some more videos up soon. Hope you like it and thanks for watching/listening. Peace, jonesy

I liked the thump after the chorus.
Nice.
Does this mean there is a line of jonsey hand made guitar coming?

Nice sounding guitar, though I'm trying to listen through the bridge pickup a bit, I think; is there a lot of colour in that Tex-Mex pickup? I'm not sure about it. I like the sound of that guitar best on the neck pickup, it sounds more "complete" to me.

Very nice deep-folk references starting at about 3:00. Straight from the "heart"

Quill: Yes the Tex-Mex is a very nice sounding pu IMO, it has some nice mids and plenty of tight bottom end. I appreciate your kind words as well.

Angry Hatter: glad you liked the "Thump" kind of a change up/outro I came up with that that seemed to fit.

I will undoubtedly continue to put together the occasional custom built Tele but no plans on anything more than that. I am having NSCS build me a "Tonemojo Dog-ear Single cut" and if all goes well I may have Paul build more of those for me.
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/vend...e-mlpfers.html

Tazzboy: I just happen to have this 496R sitting on the shelf. I picked it up in a trade so I thought I would try it out and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It is a lot warmer than I thought it would be for the cleans and it also has tight bottom end when overdriven, no mush like many of the other stock Gibson pu's. I also like how it seems to blend well with the Tex-Mex in the bridge. I think they compliment each other very well. So the 496R is a keeper in this Tele as far as I am concerned.

X-Ray: Hey Doc I always appreciate your comments, I edited the duplicate post so not a problem. Thanks for checking out my utube channel.

that's really interesting... I love the snap that ash guitars have. The neck bucker is sweet too.

Application filed for Jonesy groupie. Awesome playing and sound. Something about a tele that lends itself very well to a neck bucker. You made the most of that one!

Yeah I hear ya Tazz, I know a lot of people don't really care for the 496R and the 500T that's probably why I got them both on a trade for some Bee's

But I thought I would try the 496R in this Tele, and like I said I was presently surprised by how good it worked out for me.
