500k pots stock?

i have a epi lp standard and i have a scratchy pot so i took the back off the cavity to check and i saw "a500k" on the pot i wanted to check ...is this normal?

500k is the norm... The A stands for the taper of the pot, A would = a logarithmic taper, or audio taper... If its scratchy one way to help that is to turn it back and fowarth from 10 to 0 over and over again really fast for a minute, this is just a quick fix though... sounds like you may need to clean the pot, or you could just as easly replace the one thats scratchy

yea that seems to help it a lil bit but its only scratchy when i play a note then adjust the tone knob so
