Fender Tele Volume not working???

Hey,

I plugged in my Fender Telecaster Deluxe today and had a nice little play when I had to kill the volume for a second, nothing. The volume knob didn't do anything, and then when I checked the tone, I realized that it wasn't functioning correctly either. Any ideas where to look. I checked in the cavity and nothing jumped out. Could it be the capacitor between the two pots?? I would appreciate any advice. Oh, and the S1 switch works fine.

Have checked the soldering?
It could be the problem

A short somewhere bypassing the pots.
